How It Works

The Literary Cat Co. is a one-of-a-kind bookstore + cat lounge. We operate like a typical bookstore where you can browse our book collection, shop for unique and handcrafted goods, grab a coffee, settle in, and read a bit.​ But...there are cats. CATS! They live, sleep, play, and love life here. This is their home until someone like you falls in love and adopts them. No cages or crowded shelters for these lucky souls. Our kitties get to socialize and relax in a peaceful, home-like environment. This makes them more likely to adjust smoothly to a furever home.​ Thanks to our partnership with nonprofit Pawprints on the Heartland, our cats come to us fully vetted and ready for adoption. We feel this is a purrfect start to obliterating the stray cat population in southeast Kansas!
